Indigenous Book Bingo Check-In

Update on my personal Indigenous Book Bingo Card, includes a blank card for new members

Indigenous Book Bingo Check-In

Hi Friends,

First, welcome new members! We are so happy that you have joined this community and believe uplifting Native voices is important.

Recently, I created Indigenous Book Bingo to get people reading and talking about Indigenous Books. In order to achieve a Bingo you would need to read all of the books in one row AND post about the book on social media. We are currently playing Round One with Card One and this round ends on November 30. Anyone in this community who gets a Bingo is entered into a prize giveaway (including the opportunity to win a $50 gift card to Paperbacks and Frybread.)

For those of you who have been in the community awhile, I wanted to let you know that while this round of Bingo ends on November 30. **Round 2 **begins Dec 1 and will go through March 30. There will be a brand new card with more Indigenous book recs AND you can still play on the old card, so you won't miss out on reading any books!

Here is a blank Bingo card. This can always be found in my Instagram highlights. There are two versions of Round One because I accidentally posted 2. Fire Exit/A Broken Blade. This is the easiest way to get a double bingo. Read that entire line and then both of those books.

Here is my own personal progress:

I have read 5 and am currently reading a 6th, but I’m all over the board!

**
I have read:**

***The Truth According to Ember **by Danica Nava - First traditionally published Indigenous rom-com! Hilarious!

***I Was A Teenage Slasher **by Stephen Graham Jones- Perfect entry book for Stephen Graham Jones and horror. Good for scaredy cats. Excellent on audiobook. Coming of age told from the perspective of a serial killer.

***And Then She Fell **by Alicia Elliot, one of just a few book that made me cry this year. Descent into madness after motherhood

**
*Looking For Smoke** by KA Cobell- YA Thriller highlighting the MMIW epidemic

*A Minor Chorus by Billy Ray Belcourt- THE MOST GORGEOUS WRITING.

I am currently reading:

*A Council for Dolls (Bookclub pick!) by Mon Susa Power, a literary fiction about 3 generations of Dakota women told from the perspective of their dolls.

Books I should read next if I want to get BINGO:

Option 1:

*Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer, environmental non-fiction

*Buffalo is the New Buffalo by Chelsea Vowell, explores science fiction tropes through a Métis lens

Option 2:

***Fire Exit **by Morgan Talty, literary fiction about identity

Or

*A Broken Blade by Melissa Blair, first is a series, sapphic romantasy

***Praire Edge **by Connor Kerr, an Indigenous western

I would love to hear what your progress looks like! And yes, I LOVE IT WHEN YOU TAG ME IN YOUR INSTAGRAM STORIES
