Book Club: Good Day To Read Indigenous
Our club was featured in an email sent out by Fable which is really exciting. This month we are reading A Council of Dolls by Mona Susan Power. This book is about three generations of Dakota women grappling with the effects of colonialism and is told from the unique POV of their dolls. I am giving away 3 copies! Winners will be notified by email this Thursday and books will be shipped out on Friday! If you haven't joined the book club yet, download the FABLE app and join here .
Book Club: Women in Horror
This month's selection is **American Rapture **by CJ Leede.
Feminist Horror. Post Apocolytic about the horrors of shame, repression, sexual violence and moral panic. A good catholic girl finds fates worse than dying a virgin. If you haven't joined the book club yet, download the FABLE app and join here .
Discord Readathon Thanksgiving Weekend
Have you joined the community Discord yet? We are doing a Thanksgiving Readathon and you should join us. The Discord is a great way to meet fellow book lovers! During readathons we chat in a readathon specific channel about what we read, what we wanna read and very important: what we are snacking on. Log into Bindery and then connect your Discord to join.
Note: The readathon channel is open to All Subscribers. If you have recently upgraded your membership, please make sure to log back into Bindery and reconnect to Discord to make sure you have access to Paid Member Channels.
Currently Reading:
**Horror: **I recently finished **Memorials by Richard Chizmar. **This books follows three young adults in a Scooby Doo style van as they document roadside memorials for a school project and IT IS JUST AS CREEPY as it sounds. While I have mixed feelings about this ending, it was still a 5star read to me because of how much I enjoyed the journey. Fantastic characters, great slow burn horror (perfect read for Fall and perfect for scaredy cats) and towards the end, at the end of every chapter I was glued to the edge of my seat screaming Wait. WTF!!
Fantasy: ** I reread Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse **because I am committed to finishing the **Between Earth and Sky series **this year. You know I hate a series. But it is Indigenous and if you've read this one, you know that it is absolutely worth it. This is a fantasy series based on the civilizations of Pre-Columbian Americas and the world building and story-telling is phenomenal. I started Fevered Star and I hope to finish it by tomorrow.
