Weekly Reading, Watching and Listening June 10, 2024

Everything I have read, watched and listened to over the last week.

Here is everything I read, watched and listened to over the last week.

1. The Ruins by Scott Smith

This is a eco horror novel that I brought with me on vacation to Yosemite because I wanted to read a book about travel outdoor horror when I was traveling outdoors. I listened to the audiobook and it was INTENSE. This is probably the scariest book I've read all year. It was gory and psychological and gets your heart racing.

On My TBR

  1. Toxic Bloodlines, by E.E. Ossai

  2. The Ritual, by Adam Neville

  3. Black Sun, by Rebecca Roanhorse

Watched

1. The Ruins (rented Amazon Prime)

I love watch the movie after I've read the book and here is a time when the movie can stand on it's own. I enjoyed both and I think (spoiler alert) this might turn into my first long form Youtube video!

2. Tarot The Movie (rented Amazon Prime)

This is a movie that follows a group of teens on a cabin stay. One of the teens reads the cards for all her friends and they end up cursed. This is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The story was silly. The acting was mostly awful. I could not recommend this to anyone.

3. Evil (TV Show, Netflix)

I started this new series on Netflix. The show

The actor who played Luke Cages teams up with a psychologist and they get cases and need to determine if spirits and demons are involved or if it is the problem for a real world doctor. I've only watched a couple of episodes so far, but it's great fun for those looking for something spooky.

Listened

1. Chappell Roan, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess

I listened to this album and felt like this artist was a good combo of Kesha and Lady Gaga. Her songs were fine but there were none where I felt the need to repeat. Maybe I'm just old.

2. Kendrick Lamar and Friends (concert, amazon prime live)

If you're not following the Kendrick and Drake beef, I'm sorry you're missing out on a masterclass on how to be the pettiest mf alive.

Kendick is one of the greatest rappers of all time and this concert was a love letter to la, hip hop and black culture.
